Candied Maple Bacon Cubes

Crispy and sweet on the outside. Melt in your mouth richness on the inside. These squares fulfill every bit of potential your bacon can offer.

Ingredients

  • Candied Maple Bacon

    • Snake River Farms Slab Bacon Buy Now +
    • 2 Cups Brown Sugar
    • 1/2 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes or to taste
    • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper or to taste
    • 1 Bottle Pure Maple Syrup

Candied Maple Bacon

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line Cookie Sheet with Foil and place cooking grate over the foil lined pan so the slab bacon is exposed to the air on all sides.

  • Cut Slab Bacon into one-inch cubes. Cover the bacon on all sides with liberal amounts of maple syrup. Allow about 20-30 minutes for the syrup to soak into the meat.

  • Mix together one cup of the brown sugar, Cayenne Pepper and Red Pepper Flakes in a small bowl. Liberally spread the sugar mixture over the bacon cubes on all sides and place the bacon on the cookie sheet. Cover with foil and place in oven for 45 minutes.

  • Remove the foil and rotate the cookie sheet 180 degrees. Sprinkle the bacon lightly with some of the remaining brown sugar. Place back in the oven uncovered and continue baking.

  • Repeat this process every 30 minutes until the Bacon has a crispy outer layer, but is very easily pierced with a fork. Be careful not to let the sugar burn by cooking too hot or too long.

    Total cooking time can range between 2-3 hours and the sugar coating should form a nice crust on the outside of the bacon. Optional – drizzle Maple Syrup over the bacon before each dusting of brown sugar for increased maple flavor.

    Once bacon crust and interior are cooked to your preference, remove from the oven and serve immediately.
